Why did you write this book?

Because I wanted to understand the world a bit better and find out the answers to a lot of the questions that were buzzing around my head about where we’re all going. But also because I wanted to take some important and sometimes complex things and make them understandable to everyone. Not just readers of Scientific American or New Scientist but people like my mum too; to go beyond ideology and just say ‘here’s some stuff I think you need to know about, because it’s actually going to change how you live’.
